So I almost died yesterday…
First, the pictures. I’ll explain ‘em afterwards.

The story:
Yesterday was fraternity summer party, and I was out on the lake in the houseboat that we rented. I was having a great time, and I was going between the houseboat of the people next to us (who were very gracious hosts, hooking us up with food and a hot tub to relax in) and our houseboat. Well, one certain time when I crossed between the houseboats, the gap was a little wider than normal, but not unpassable. So I put my leg out to cross, and as soon as I start to land back on the other side, the boats drift apart a little more. Coupled with the beers I had consumed and the fact that my feet were wet, I promptly dropped the twenty feet into the water. Thank goodness for the fraternity brothers that were there to save me. Those were the only injuries I sustained, even though those are fairly extensive. Needless to say, today I hurt. Quite alot. And it’s gonna be a couple of days before I am back to full speed.
Currency.
The look and the shape of things going on right now.
(The audience will never understand how long it took me to type that last sentence, except for Ally, because she does the letter orphaning thing all the time when she types as well.)
Folks, I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t want to update this thing. It’s still my homepage on both my computers, as well as my PortableFirefox at work. I see it at least 50 times a day, and usually just use it to springboard my other web surfing habits (Facebook, Mojo, /. , Fark) and I don’t want to neglect it, it’s just that it has to be that way.
But to give some updates.
Current loves:
1. Kingdom of Loathing: http://www.kingdomofloathing.com It’s one of those ideas that “it’s just so stupid, it might actually work.” For the naysayers to those ideas: Fuck You. This is probably one of the most ridiculous, asinine, and just plain weird games out there. But guess what? It’s awesome. It’s one of those things that you just can dig into so well after a while.
2. KoL Radio: http://www.radio-kol.net Don’t mean it to be a double post on the same subject, but this is the “official unofficial” radio station to go along with Kingdom of Loathing. It keeps me entertained, and in my first week of listening to it, I’d have to say that some of my favorites are Naamah and Phoenix doing their Loveline-style show from the perspective of women, along with ADeadHeart whenever she is on, as well as Jick and Skullhead (the creators of KoL) doing their weekly update and taking questions from players. I also heard this sultry Queen’s English/Scottish voice when I got up this morning, going to have to see who that belongs to.
3. Someone. She goes without a name, just because that’s how I roll around here. And no, I’m not “In Love” with her. I just love hanging out and talking to her and it’s just kinda nice. Anything more than just friends is on hold for a while, and that’s cool with me, because for once in my life, I’m not rushing in to it, and that’s when it slides in the best.
4. Someone else. This person goes without a name as well, because she deserves to be just as innocent as them all. But she rocked my world a couple of weeks ago, and let’s just say it left me wanting more.
5. Independence. Not the usual flag-waving bullshit fare of independence that comes up around this time of year (actually I’m probably a couple of days late for that style of it anyway) but a love of being alone , doing my thing, with few questions to answer and all but 8.5 hours of my day dictated to me.
6. 12:30 PM. It’s my lunch break time, 4/5 days every week. The opportunity to step away and go talk with friends or get to go walk around the building (when it’s not pissing rain) is just kinda nice.
7. The ability to hold alcohol. LOTS. All good estimates are that I drank somewhere close to two cases this weekend, in the span of two nights. One night, I was sober enough (read: not totally shitcanned) to actually call someone to take me home, rather than crashing on the nearest couch. Saturday night, I have no idea how I made it home, but I know that I definitely woke up semi-nude (*shudder*) on my bed, my shirt in the hallway, and it was wet, with something that was not vomit.
8. Losing weight. I haven’t weighed myself in a few weeks, but all good estimates are around 25-30 pounds for the summer. Most of that is cleared up by walking to and from work daily. And eating sensibly. The 1500 calorie a day diet was not sensible, especially the way I was doing it, so I expanded that a little, and now I’m doing much better for myself.
But, as you know, the grass isn’t always green. Birds are not always chirping and the sun is not always out. So where you find love…
Current Hates:
1. Class. It’s not even two weeks in out of the 5, and I’m sick of class. And for the first time ever, it’s no student. It’s the professor. He has never taught this class before (no, it’s not the prof that I am used to, but trust me, the issue is him.) and he’s bollocksing things up. In a hurry. So yeah, not too happy with it right now. Where the old prof could make 2:10 feel like 45 minutes, this one makes me feel like it’s an all-day affair.
2. My internet connection at home. It fucking sucks. We get 30k coming down. On a cable connection. I’ve done better on dialup before. My one real chance to do any… file transferring activities… and I can’t because it’s too damn slow.
There are more hates. I just want to get this entry posted.
A small update.
You’ll notice that I now have the current US Terror level above the search box. It’s there really just because it’s funny. And somewhat idiotic because of who thought it up, and the fact that we’re reducing something so complex and scary, like our freedom and the ability / probability that it is about to be encroached upon down to something simple, like a color. Thank god I like Muppets, or it would have never made it.
