I may get de-nerded for this…

But I’m going to give McAfee and Gateway alot of credit for providing 3 years worth of service to their anti-virus and security suite up front with orders from Gateway (albeit, for added price).

Why, you may ask?

Because that way no one has to worry about the computer’s security for the next three years. Now, you may think that it is a bad thing, because people aren’t thinking about (therefore worrying about) their security. But I agree that security should be that seamless from the moment you turn on your computer for the first time, and stay that way until you turn it off for the final time. Sure, there are free ways to do this as well. I’m sure any of the big manufacturers could get with Avast or AVG and provide a commercial license key for three years (or whatever period of time) for a much reduced cost. Coupled with Microsoft Anti-Spyware Windows Defender and a default-on Windows Firewall, computer security could be a total non-issue, as it always should be.
